How to Make the Most of Your Engagement & All of the Basic Things You Should Do

You’re engaged? Yay you! Hopefully you have already told your friends and family, and are well on your way to dreaming up your ideal wedding day. However, don’t be so quick to skip past the engagement phase! Bask in the butterflies and excitement before diving straight into the stress that is wedding planning. To help you get the ball rolling, we’ve put together a few ways to ensure you get the most out of this short-lived but super sweet time in your life.

Time to Party

Some people feel engagement parties are redundant, considering you have bachelor/bachelorette parties, the bridal shower, and a rehearsal dinner. We, however, think that any excuse for a party is a good one, and we have a feeling so will your friends. It doesn’t have to be an expensive affair, and you may even choose to masquerade it as some other celebration to announce your engagement.

Social Media Mayhem

Post that ring pic! Share the moment that you said “yes”, and the drinks that came after! It is your time to shine and anyone who doesn’t like it can keep on scrolling. A little social media attention is a lot of fun, and you will be surprised by the people who come out of the woodworks to wish you well. You can also start practicing on creating your very own Instagram or Snapchat filter for the big day.

Grab Some Freebies

Besides a future spouse, getting engaged include perks like free gifts and discounts. To obtain most of these, like free stemless wine glasses from Crate & Barrel, you simply have to register at a variety of retailers. Even if they don’t offer a free gift, you will receive a decent discount for an entire year following your wedding. It’s a pretty great trade off for the slightly annoying emails you can later unsubscribe from. One freebie we highly recommend: cake tastings. Whether or not you book a bakery they may offer tastings, so try your luck.

Open Houses and Wedding Expos

These events are a blast, a great opportunity to win discounts and, you got it, gather more freebies. If you’re lucky it may also include a few drinks. Peruse potential venues and vendors, collect business cards, and get a quick chat in with the business owner if you are genuinely interested in their services. Think of it like speed dating for wedding vendors. If nothing else, you will have fun and walk away with a handful of useful ideas and some much needed inspo for your wedding.

Get Away

Yes, you will have a honeymoon, but if you have the opportunity to do so, then you will enjoy spending some alone time together giggling over the fact that you are engaged. Most couples only get to call their significant other “fiance” for a little over a year – which is not nearly

long enough. Whether it is a weekend trip or longer, we can’t recommend enough that you start the practice of reminding each other why you got engaged in the first place.

At Pine Lake Ranch we would love to be a part of your engagement. Whether you are interested in touring our breathtaking venue, utilizing our 25-acres for an engagement session, or simply attending an open house featuring preferred vendors, we are here for you! When you choose us, you are choosing attention to detail and extraordinary memories that will last a lifetime.
